The Office of Research and Engagement is pleased to offer Cayuse Research Suite, a cloud-based research administration software system. This allows us to:

  • have a significantly upgraded electronic infrastructure
  • reduce administrative burden associated with proposal submission and award management
  • provide enhanced reporting functionality

We are excited to offer these services in support of the growth and development of the UNCG research enterprise.

Cayuse Research Systems will be hosted on one platform ultimately. Currently, however, you can access different modules as outlined below, using your single sign-on login credentials.

Effective July 1, 2021, any personnel involved in the design, conduct, or reporting of a research project must submit a financial conflict of interest disclosure. Proposals will not be submitted to the sponsor by OSP until all COI disclosures have been completed and certified by the Office of Research Integrity.

This business process change brings the University into compliance with Federal conflict of interest disclosure requirements in promoting objectivity in research. Although our research portfolio is diverse and not all of our projects are funded by the Federal government, the University will require COI disclosures to be completed for all proposal submissions.

When viewing My Proposals and My Awards in Cayuse SP, you may notice “statuses.” The labels provide a more accurate and descriptive outline of what is happening to a proposal at any given time. Some statuses include:

  • COI Compliance verification: ORI is reviewing the IPF to ensure COI disclosures have been completed and other compliance checks.
  • OSP Budget Review: Your OSP budget Specialist is reviewing the budgetary aspects of the proposal
  • OSP GS Review: your OSP Grants Specialist is. reviewing and finalizing all elements of the proposal
  • Ready for Sub[mission]/IPF Approved: The proposal is ready to be submitted by UNCG’s AOR (authorized organizational representative).
  • Submitted to Sponsor: The proposal has been submitted.
  • Abandoned: A Cayuse IPF that has been “In Draft” for more than 12 months will be moved to Abandoned. PIs can still access these under “My Submitted Proposals” and return them to a draft state for edits and routing in Cayuse SP.
  • Pre-Award Risk Assumption (PRA): Will be used during the time your PRA is being routed for approvals.
  • Invited to Submit Full Proposal: This final status of an internal processing form indicates that a PI has received notification that their pre-proposal or letter of intent was successful and they may submit a full proposal.
